Linguage Chapter

Dallas, Texas

We are a small team of ambitious and curious high-school students with a wide range of skills and experience.

We love what we do, and we do it with passion.

Maanu Obalapuram

Chapter President

Maanu is a freshman at Marcus High School and loves learning about languages. She has a background in Spanish, Latin and Sanskrit. While she started learning languages at a young age, her passion for linguistics emerged in late middle school. She loved how each language was so different and so unique in its own way. The diversity in the languages inspired her to wonder what exactly made a language a language.

Maanu also enjoys electronic designing and has won several competitions such as Samsung’s Solve for Tomorrow contest and TCEA’s 3D Design competition. She has held various leadership positions, from an educated guide to the governor of Texas to the Vice President of her school’s National Honor Society. She is a member of Latin Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society, and Junior Classical League.

She enjoys reading any good book she can lay her eyes on, scouting out the best places for boba and coffee, and playing bridge with her family. Along with this, Maanu has been dancing for ten years and continues to learn. She looks forward to bringing awareness to linguistics and learning more about the vast, beautiful subject.
